As the latest addition to our growing portfolio, The Stables is a brand new registered service for up to five adults/young people with autism or autistic spectrum disorders including Aspergers.
Client profile:
- Young people 17+ and young adults
- On the autistic spectrum including Aspergers
- May be looking to leave their family home for the first time
- May be transferring from a residential education establishment
May have been living in residential care and want to further develop their skills of daily living and independence.The single level home features bedrooms with en-suite facilities, several welcoming communal spaces and large enclosed garden areas.
The Stables’ environment is sensitive to the needs of those with autism and related conditions. It has been designed to assist those people on the autistic spectrum to develop the skills and abilities to negotiate the world and take an active part in community life. The Stables’ team takes on board the principles of the National Autism Strategy as well as our continued commitment to the Valuing People principles.Our owerwhelming aim is to support people in a way that acknowledges and respects their condition and at the same time assists them to develop the much needed skills to manage their life in a way that allows them opportunities for choice, inclusion and to be a valued member of society in the same way that other members of our society are respected. We aim to lead towards a life with greater independence, where possible.
Staffing
The Stables has a core team of staff; usually two staff morning and evening and waking night staff. This make-up can vary dependent upon needs. Additionally, each person’s support plan will identify periods throughout the day/week where they could require additional input on a 1-1 basis.
Measuring outcomes
Through the use of regular internal meetings with the service users, The Stables team works to ensure that the outcomes identified at the assessment stage and at regular reviews are achieved. Each individual’s external care team, their care commissioners and other significant people to them are continually informed of the progress made.
The Stables is located close to Greenfields, Clearwater Care’s existing residential facility in Newark.
