Facilities - Haroldstone

Haroldstone residential home has five bedrooms and two bathrooms. Another thriving community on Harold Road, Haroldstone provides care, support and many opportunities for people with learning disabilities.

Kitchen: We have an open-plan kitchen and dining area. In addition, under supervision we enjoy baking and cooking days for service users wanting to self-cook.

Living and dining area: We have a large dining and living area used for parties and get together with families. There is also a quite room which is used for meeting/reviews, private conversations and relaxation. The lounge features TV, DVD, video and stereo. We also enjoy our very own karaoke machine!

Garden: We have a large patio garden area at the back of the home where we have delicious BBQs in the summer. There is seating area for people and a grassy area where service users can enjoy supervised outdoor games. We love gardening and welcome everybody to input into summer planting.

Staff: Haroldstone is managed by a Registered Home Manager and Deputy, supported by a team of support staff. All are trained to meet the needs of the people who use the service. All staff have or are working towards NVQ 2, with all seniors having or working towards NVQ 3.

The manager is available from Monday to Friday and on call at all other times. There is always a manager and a senior member of staff on duty at any time. Staff work in rotation with nights covered by one ‘waking night’ staff member.

Our busy days include a number of programmes and activities. These include; special visits such as trips to the London Eye , pub lunches, picnics, local community events, visiting the cinema, and craft markets. At Haroldstone, we enjoy puzzle time, art and crafts, painting, cooking, keep fit exercise, and our exciting monthly in-house disco.

Joining in with activities in the local community, service users attend Leyton Leisure Lagoon for swimming and day centres during the week with Redbridge Community Housing Limited (RCHL).

We have input from outside agencies eg advocacy. Referrals can be made via the service user’s GP for speech and language, psychology and other professional support.

Families and friends are always made welcome. We have regular parties where everyone is invited – these events give us the chance to meet and talk. Families are invited to attend six-monthly review meetings. At these and on other occasions, we seek feedback to monitor how we are performing as a care provider, and explore ways of improving how we deliver our range of services.
