Facilities - Harold Lodge

Harold Lodge is a residential home with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, providing care and support for people with learning disabilities.

Kitchen: We have an open plan kitchen and dining area. In addition, under supervision we enjoy baking and cooking days for service users wanting to self-cook.

Living and dining area: We have a large dining and living area used for parties and get together with families. There is also a quite room which is used for meeting/reviews, private conversations and relaxation. The lounge features TV, DVD, video and stereo.

All bedrooms are spacious and are individually personalised by the service users.

Garden: We have a large patio garden area at the back of the home where we have fantastic supervised BBQs in the summer. There is seating for people and a grassy area where service users can play supervised outdoor games. In the summer, we encourage a range of gardening activities.

Staff: The Registered Home Manager and Deputy are supported by a senior support worker and a team of full and part time staff. All staff are trained to meet the needs of the people who use the service. All staff have or are working towards NVQ 2. All senior have or are working towards NVQ 3.

A senior manager is available Monday to Friday and on call at all other times. There is always a manager or a senior on duty at all times. Staff work on rotation and during the night there is one ‘waking night’ on duty.

Typical daily programmes and activities include:- Day trips to South End, pub lunches, picnics in the park, art and crafts, playing football in the park, trips to the cinema, puzzle time and disco nights.

Joining in with activities in the local community, service users attend Leyton Leisure Lagoon for swimming and day centres during the week with Redbridge Community Housing Limited (RCHL).

We have input from outside agencies eg advocacy. Referrals can be made via the service user’s GP for speech and language, psychology and other professional support.

Families and friends are always made welcome. We have regular parties where everyone is invited – they give us the chance to meet and talk. Families are invited to attend six-monthly review meetings. At these and on other occasions, we seek feedback to monitor how we are performing as a care provider, and explore ways of improving how we deliver our range of services.
