Harold Road Facilities

4 Harold Road provides a supporting living environment with four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Kitchen: We have a fully fitted kitchen with further facilities for self-cooking. We have cooking and baking days for anyone wishing to bake or cook with supervision/support.

Living and dining areas: We have a large living and dining area which we use for parties and get together with families. For meeting/reviews the service users will use the dining area for private conversations. Our lounge area is a great place to relax or service users can use their bedrooms for quieter moments.

Garden: We have a large Mediterranean garden area at the back of the home where we have BBQs in the summer. There is seating for people and a large grass area, and an additional space where we are hoping to develop a vegetable garden. There is a small garden at the front of the house for those who want to do gardening. Gardening related activities have appropriate staff supervision.

Staff: 4 Harold Road has a Registered Home Manager supported by a Deputy, senior support worker and a team of full and part time staff. All are trained to meet the needs of the people who use the service. All staff have or are working towards NVQ 2 . All senior have NVQ 3 or working towards it.

Staffing the home, the duty manager is available Monday to Friday but also available out of hours, as needed. There is always a manager or a senior on duty at any time. Staff work on a rotation basis with more staff on duty as activities – both inside the home and off-site dictate. During the night there is one ‘sleep in’.

Activities abound at 4 Harold Road: These include: gardening, drama, computers, art and craft, swimming, pottery, and voluntary work. We also enjoy household chores, cooking, shopping, planning menus and trips, going to the pub, playing pool or snooker ,going to the cinema, and trips to watch football.

Working with the community: We take full advantage of the facilities on our doorstep with our service users attending - Harmony Hall in Walthamstow for pottery and art and craft, Leytonstone Learning link for computer classes for people with learning disabilities, Shernhall Hall Methodist church for music art and drama, and Leyton leisure lagoon for swimming. Some of the service users have voluntary jobs in the local charity shop in the area.

We have input from outside agencies eg referrals can be made via the GP for speech and language, advocate, psychology, occupation therapy or other professional support as part of their care pathway.

Families and friends are always made to feel welcome. We have regular parties where everyone is invited, giving us all the chance to meet together and talk. Families are invited to attend review meetings every six months. At every opportunity, we will seek formal and informal feedback to understand how we can continually improve upon the levels of care and support we provide.
