We currently provide care to a high percentage of our service users who are on the Autistic spectrum. At a strategic level the directors of Clearwater Care took a decision that in order to continue proving quality care and support we needed the involvement of Autism experts.
Whilst we are always appreciative of the specialist input from our local community learning disability teams we believe that commissioning a training programme led by Dr John Biddulph –an internationally acknowledged expert on Autism was the most appropriate way forward. Since November 2011, our managers and team leaders have embarked on a comprehensive training course which we are confident will improve the understanding of our staff who are working with people who are on the Autistic spectrum. We will be working with John across all of our homes as part of this first-phase intensive training programme. We anticipate that his involvement with Clearwater Care will be an ongoing and developing partnership.
