Ash Lea House has 14 bedrooms, six of which have en-suite facilities. There are two additional bathrooms. The home is fully adapted for people with physical disabilities, with ramps throughout for wheelchair access, and bathrooms adaptable for hoists, subject to a service user's assessment by the care team.
Kitchen: We have a large and comprehensively fitted kitchen. We encourage residents to use the facilities - self-cooking is an important part of the daily skills activities. In addition, we have baking days for anyone wishing to cook with appropriate supervision and support.
Living and dining areas: We have a large dining area which is used for parties and get together with families. There is a conservatory for meetings/reviews which service users can use for private conversations. There is a homely lounge area which is used for relaxation. All of the communal rooms have TVs in them as well as personal TVs in everybody's own rooms. Our living spaces are spacious and welcoming where we encourage all service users to interact and socialise with each other if and when they want too. We have a games room with a games table, and this area is used for arts and crafts, nail art and hairdressing. Our quiet area can be found within the conservatory where many service users use if they don't want to be in their own rooms. Quite often, the service users take advantage of our qualified masseur - a member of staff - who can give head, body and feet massages.
Garden: We have a large garden area at the back of the home where we enjoy BBQs when the sun shines! There is seating for people and a large area of grass where service users can play outdoor games with the staff. We are very pleased when residents volunteer to take part in gardening activities. Those who want to are supervised by staff. There is a grass area at the front of the home with a water feature and seating. We also have a large car park.
Staff: We have a great team of qualified people at Ash Lea House consisting of a Registered Home Manager, Deputy Manager, two senior support workers and a further team of full and part-time support staff. Each member of the team is trained to meet the needs of our service users. Everybody is expected to be qualified to or working towards NVQ2 or above.
Ash Lea House is appropriately staffed 24/7. There is always a manager or senior support worker on duty at any time. Additional staffing is made available for activities outside the home. During nights, we have one 'waking night' staff member and a 'sleep-in' by a manager or senior support worker.
