Welcome to St Peter’s, Clearwater’s care home for people with learning disabilities and Mental Health needs located in Watford, Hertfordshire.

St Peter’s care facility for people with learning disabilities is located in the thriving town of Watford. With eight bedrooms, five of which have en-suite bathrooms, our home is tailored to the needs of the service users who choose to live here.

Activities are an important part of everyday life at St Peter’s. They are carried out individually or as a group depending on service users’ choice. There are various activities ranging from, housekeeping, cooking, dominoes, carpet bowling, card games, Nintendo Wii games, discos, Xmas parties and Karaoke.

We enjoy taking full advantage that Watford has to offer. It’s a busy town with lots to do! We regularly go for walks, weekly community trips, go shopping, see the latest blockbusters at the cinema, visit the library, swimming, bowling, gateway club, and take bus trips. Additional transport is provided by the use of the home people carrier or local taxis. Holidays are also important – service users have the choice of destination and activity – recent trips have included Butlins and Euro Disney.

St Peter’s has close relationships with local and regional agencies, all focused on the ongoing journeys our service users are taking along their care pathways. Agencies include The Community Support Unit, (CSU mental health team).Community learning disability team, CLDT (based in Apsley; consisting of the Hertsmere team, Watford and Tree Rivers, Daycentres including Waterside and Balmoral units, and West Herts College. Mencap Advocacy; 3-4 service users participate monthly.

For friends and family, we firmly believe in an ‘open house’ arrangement. Visitors are encouraged to visit service users at any time that is reasonable. We will advise, on some occasions, re the timings of visits, so that meetings are timed to suit each individual’s daily programme. Most friends and relatives visit at weekends when it suits both service users and relatives. We work closely with our service users and their friends and relatives – they play a vital role in helping shape both their individual care pathways, and the wider services we provide as a whole. It is their input and feedback which can continually raise the bar of quality care that we aim to provide. Social events at Christmas and the summer BBQ are particularly well attended events by residents, friends and families coming together, to celebrate the success of St Peter's residents.
